I hope that your summer has been going well. I missed the start of monsoon for the first time in 20 years because I was on the East Coast. But wow, we got some great storms here at the house and that made me so happy! The local school district started today, so I guess that means summer is over. Ha, tell that to the weather.
Right now, in my daily practice I am focused on techniques that nourish and cool. Think restorative postures and breathing practices, as well as quiet time. As we start edging towards the end of summer, we want to cool and soothe, and build up the digestive fire. In Ayurveda it is said that summer bakes on the ama (undigested food, emotions, thoughts, and experiences). We don’t need that going into fall. Try adding a little ginger to your diet, drinking 8 ounces of lemon water 20 minutes before eating, apple cider vinegar in the morning before you eat, and not eating after the sun goes down. These tips will help your digestion which is at its lowest point in its year-long cycle. If we don’t support our digestion, all of those experiences will be hanging around, undigested, to trip us up. Who needs that?
Some nice offerings coming up. I am leading an online course for LifeForce Yoga on mudras, hand gestures, to manage mood and energy. We start on Wednesday. There is a coupon below for a 10% discount. I am part of the sacred business summit, which is free to attend. It is in progress, but there is still time to join. If you are in Tucson, I hope to see you at this month’s mantra class, or in any other class.
